There was an article in yesterday's Williamsport SunGazette where the River Valley Regional YMCA made the announcement that they are going to build a new YMCA. That article can be read here.
The YMCA's web site here, gives more information. one of the comments from David Fagerstrom, River Valley Regional YMCA CEO was that "The HVAC and electrical systems are antiquated and the pool is nearing the end of its useful life." (Hint: Lock Haven YMCA). So instead of putting a band-aid on the existing structure, they are going to build a new facility.
The site goes on to list the many features of the new building. Below is the information pertaining to the indoor swimming pool.
An Indoor Swimming Pool suitable for the various groups that use the Y: swim team, masters club, family swim, aquacize, senior water exercise, youth swim lessons, etc. The current Williamsport Branch YMCA facility pool is deteriorating, does not have good access for those with physical disabilities, and is not designed for lap swimming. The pool that will be built at the new Williamsport Branch YMCA will have a zero-depth entry ramp, and have the proper length and depth for lap swimmers, youth swim team members, senior exercise, youth swim lessons, and masters swimmers.
Do you catch that? The pool that will be built at the new Williamsport Branch YMCA will have a zero-depth entry ramp, and have the proper length and depth for lap swimmers, youth swim team members, senior exercise, youth swim lessons, and masters swimmers.
Sounds like the Central Pennsylvania YMCA Swim League better get ready for another member.
