Jersey Shore Swimmer Heads for Open Waters

A swimmer from the Jersey Shore Swim Team, Kortnee Blair, recently participated in a 1.5 mile open water swim. The event was held at Nockamixon State Park in Quakertown, PA on July 11. The course distance was .75 mile, so the swimmers had to swim 2 laps. Kortnee believes her second lap went faster because she knew what to expect. She said the water was so murky that visibility was a mere 2 feet, which made it difficult to determine exactly where she was on the course; it also explained her inability to see the impending “attack of the seaweed” which slowed her progress a bit. In spite of those obstacles, Kortnee placed 66th out of 199 entrants with a time of 47:00:00. She was also the second youngest swimmmer in the event.

[We prefer to believe they were there to cheer our “bullfrog” on!]
