Lock Haven University Offering Stroke Clinics and Lessons
As a swimmer ages, stroke efficiency becomes even more important. Pick up some tips at Lock Haven's 2-day 'Competitive Swim Clinic' in April to pick up that edge. Not quite there for stroke work? They are also offering swim lessons. Lessons are completed in VERY small instructor to swimmer ratio (1-1 for younger swimmers, never more than 2-1 for advanced swimmers). For more information, go here.).

Former Mill Hall Swimmer Top Seed At NCAA D-III Championships
During the summer's, the Lugg sisters would visit family in the Mill Hall area. Being swimmers, they looked for a place to train during their stay and found a home with the Mill Hall Muskrats (now the Lock Haven Loggerheads). Denison University senior, Natalie Lugg, is seeded 1st in the 200 IM, 5th in the 100 breast, and 5th in the 200 breaststroke in the 2014 NCAA Division III Championships that take place this weekend. The Old Fashioned Way To Teach Swim Lessons
No doubt that local sport's coverage in the newspapers is heavy on football, basketball, wrestling, and baseball but swimming coverage in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette and especially the Lock Haven Express has really picked up the past year. It should be noted that every once in a while, Bill Byham-sports columnist for Williamsport's Webb Weekly, also talks about swimming. He is an old timer that brings back some of his past experiences and recollections of yesteryear. Below is his latest column with reference to swimming issues (general swimming experience in 2nd and 3rd paragraphs and a shout-out to two swim coaches from his hometown in last paragraph).

Jersey Shore YMCA Swimmers of 87-88 District Team
Several years of blogging have occurred
at the Jersey Shore Swim blog with over 700 stories and articles posted. With that in mind, the Jersey Shore Swim blog
will occasionally pull out an occasional favorite or interesting item from the
archives to share with readers (plus some interesting old stuff never posted)
in a series called Flashback Friday.
Twenty-six years ago, the Jersey Shore YMCA sent 29 swimmers to the YMCA District Swim Meet.

Investment in Williamsport Swimming Pools
Some good news on the swimming pool front in Williamsport as the Williamsport Area School Board voted 6-0 to re-install the ceiling, with
perimeter lighting, for the high school natatorium (pool). More on that can be found here (scroll to bottom).
While improvements are being made on the indoor pool, major work needs to be done on the outdoor Williamsport Memorial Pool. The Friends of Memorial Pool presented Justin Simpson, city recreation director, with a $1,000 check as part of their commitment to raise $50,000 asked of them by City Council last year at budget time. More information can be found here.

Two Lock Haven Swims Equals Two YMCA State Qualifiers
Last night's first two Lock Haven swimmers, Emma Butzler and Ethan Dale, swam fast enough and clean enough to automatically advance onto the state meet in two weeks. Butzler dropped 13 seconds to take first in the 500 freestyle while Dale took 5th in the brutal 400 IM.
Zach and Cody Schwoyer of Jersey Shore placed 7th and 10th respectively in the 500 freestyle (14-and-under and 15-and-over respectively) and wait to see if they can qualify on times after results from East and West Districts.
Jersey Shore's Kendra White dropped 11 seconds in her 14-and-under 400 IM and also waits to see if see can qualify for the state meet on times.
For real time results for today and tomorrow (plus last night's full results) go here.

Senior Swimmers At Jersey Shore High School Say Farewell.
The previous post (here) compared the Jersey Shore High School women's swim team standings from 14th place at the 2013 District IV AA Championship to 8th place this year. The men moved up 4 spots, from 11th to 7th, in one year. Part of that was because of the large number of seniors leading the team. Below is an article that appeared in the January 29th edition of the Lock Haven Express on this leadership and upset win over Central Columbia.
