PIAA District IV Championship Swim Meet Results, Updated

Below are some results and comments for the Jersey Shore boys.  They are provided by high school swimming parent Shelley Moore.

Event 2 Boys 18 & Under 200 Yard Medley Relay – JS had no swimmers.

Event 4 Boys 18 & Under 200 Yard Freestyle – Derek McPherson was seeded 12th with a time of 2:07.58. He finished 11th with a time of 2:02.62. 17 total swimmers in the event.

Event 6 Boys 18 Under 200 Yard IM – Ian Endresen was seeded 10th with a time of 2:18.71. He finished 8th with a time of 2:11.16. 13 total swimmers in the event.

Event 8 Boys 18 & Under 50 Yard Freestyle – Stephen Smeltzer was seeded 15th with a time of 24.76. He finished 14th with a time of 24.82. McKinley Thompson was seeded 9th with a time of 24.16. He finished 8th with a time of 23.31. 28 total swimmers in the event.

Event 12 Boys 18 & Under 100 Yard Butterfly – Evan Moore was seeded 17th with a time of 1:10.26. He finished 17th with a time of 1:06.28. 21 total swimmers in the event.

Event 14 Boys 18 & Under 100 Yard Freestyle – Stephen Smeltzer was seeded 13th with a time of 56.21. He finished 14th with a time of 55.28. McKinley Thompson was seeded 10th with a time of 55.41. He finished 9th with a time of 53.82. 24 total swimmers in the event.

Event 18 Boys 18 & Under 200 Yard Freestyle Relay – The relay team of McKinley Thompson, Derek McPherson, Stephen Smeltzer and Ian Endresen was seeded 8th with a time of 1:40.16. They finished 17th with a time of 1:37.41. 11 total relays in the event. (Note: Mack Thompson started behind the rest of the pack as the lead off swimmer in the lane next to him false-started/fell off the block a fraction of a second before the start buzzer sounded. Possibly thinking that the race may be restarted, the false start caused Thompson to hold up for a second before diving in the water, entering almost a full body length after the other teams. Without the distraction of the false start, the Jersey Shore team would have likely medaled in this race.)

Event 20 Boys 18 & Under 100 Yard Backstroke- Evan Moore was seeded 15th with a time of 1:10.46. He finished 15th with a time of 1:09.28. Derek McPherson was seeded 10th with a time of 1:08.76. He finished 12th with a time of 1:07.28. 17 total swimmers in the event.

Event 22 Boys 18 & Under 100 Yard Breaststroke – Ian Endresen was seeded 5th with a time of 1:07.66. He finished 3rd earning a medal, with a time of 1:04.26. 16 total swimmers in the event.

Event 24 Boys 18 & Under 400 Yard Freestyle Relay – The relay team of McKinley Thompson, Derek McPherson, Stephen Smeltzer and Ian Endresen was seeded 7th with a time of 3:48.56. They finished 6th, and earned medals, with a time of 3:39.93. 10 total relays in the event.
