First it was Mansfield University back in 2015 and now it appears that Lock Haven University (LHU) is about to cut their women's program. See the article in yesterday's SwimSwan blog posting here.
While it is probably the wish of administrators for this to go quietly into the night, the women swimmers are pushing back. Not sure of the exact quote but "well behaved women rarely make history".
So which Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference swim team is next? How does this affect recruiting for the remaining schools? Stay tuned.
Ironically, Juniata College just added a men's team to, get this..... to improve enrollment. See here for more detail on that.
PS - Back around 2009, LHU tried to cut or eliminate the men's baseball program. NEVER HAPPENED!
