After the first day of District
4 swimming, Jersey Shore is holding 5th place on the men’s
side. Luke Engel captured 2nd in the 50 freestyle and teammate
John Duda and Jon Crevling pulled up in 6th and 11th
respectively. It was their 200 freetyle relay that made a statement at
the end of the evening’s swimming. Seeded 7th, the relay of
Duda, Keegan Wagner, Nash Berfield, and Engle dropped 8.5 seconds to move up to
third. Dakota Gardner, Wagner, Crevling, and Ethan Alexander swam the
2:06.18 in the 200 medley relay.
The girls finished the evening
in 6th place. The girls opening 200 medley relay of Gabbie
Moore, Allison Panczyszyn, Emma Butzler, and Kendra White dropped over ½ a
second to secure 4th place. Jersey Shore’s other relay was
seeded last but the grouping of Paige Weston, Alexa Shadle, Briar Lehman, and
Panczyszyn dropped over 8 seconds to move up several slots. Butzler
punched her ticket to States by winning the 100 butterfly while Gabbie Moore
dropped almost 3 seconds to finish 4th.
