Area Swimmers Compete In Inaugural Lumberjack Triathlon

Before many Williamsport residents were even out of bed on August 12, many triathletes were in the water ready for the start of the Lumberjack Triathlon.  It was a race that consisted of a 800 yard swim, 13.7 mile bike ride, and a 3.1 mile run.  A map of the course can be viewed below,

Many triathlons have the swimming leg in swimming pools where mass starts are avoided.  The Lumberjack Triathlon took advantage of the Williamsport's natural features with the swim in the West Branch of the Susquehanna River.

Winners of the 15-19 male division are recognized for their efforts; Shaun Smith (1st), Nathan Witmer (2nd), and Mitchel Smith (3rd).  Click on picture to enlarge.
