Below is a letter to the editor in the June 3rd edition of the Williamsport Sun-Gazette
Wrong Priorities
This is something that needs to be said. My heart goes out to the people who have no place to swim due to pool closings in Williamsport and Montoursville. We all know ice hockey arenas are more important than safe places for children in Williamsport. And in Montoursville, football fields and gas drillers are more important.
Now this leaves the problem of people finding places to cool off so they are coming out the 'sock (Loyalsock Creek) to cool off. Since there is no beaches any more they are using private property to swim on. Yes no one owns the creek but they do own the property that they are using to get to the creek. These people are having enough problems trying to get their creek frontage back in shape without these people trespassing on them. Sunday a couple cars parked and 11 people proceeded to walk across 2 private properties and went to the creek to swim. If it happens again their license will be taken and turned into the State Police and charges will be filed against them.
We are not providing beaches for the people in town to use, so find a spot that is not someone's property.
