  1. Selfishness is the reason for closures. In the overall scheme of things, community pools and aquatic facilities can survive if a very few people show the initiative to make it happen. In today's society it is just too easy to walk away from a community asset such as this. It is for this and other reasons that the youth of today find opportunities outside of our area because no one has a vision to make our area a place to remain. I ask if a community like this saw a reduction in taxes as a result of this closure? My guess is no. Virtually everyone wastes money and a mere $20 per year per household would most likely have saved this facility. But because no one is willing to step up to offer from their wallets and of their expertise the result is giving our kids a reason to move away with their talents.
