It does take a community effort to get things done around here as the Friends of the Community Pool Committee and the financial support of Mill Hall Borough, Bald Eagle Township, the Clinton County commissioners and the Clinton County Community Foundation are opening up the aging Mill Hall Pool this summer. More information can be found here.
But some work still needs to be done and funds generated. So below are some items to note
BINGO FUNDRAISER
Vera Bradley Bingo to benefit the pool is slated for Sunday, April 22 at the Red Eye Center in Flemington. Doors open at 11 a.m. and the event starts at 1 p.m.
The CO2 Unique Boutique staff have been a great help with the planning, the Friends said. Prizes will include all newly released summer patterns, and the committee has worked with CO2 to make sure the prizes will be the most coveted Vera Bradley items.
Tickets have been donated by APC Printing Co., and prizes are sponsored by local businesses and families.
A Chinese auction, also featuring Vera Bradley items, will be part of the event. Other auction prizes include tickets to a Millbrook Playhouse show, tickets to a Community Arts Center show, a gift card for Susquehanna Transit, membership to the Lock Haven Area YMCA, passes for Delgrosso's Park, a gift basket from Backroad Primitives, a gift basket from the State College Spikes, a grilling basket from UGI Central Penn Gas, a blanket from Woolrich Woolen Mills, an Evelyn and Crabtree basket from Inspirational Floral Studio, a gift certificate from Main Cheung, passes to Lakemont Park, a gift certificate for #1 Nails, and a grand prize of a weekend getaway to Seven Springs Resort for two nights' stay donated by The Express.
The fun also features a surprise box and a 50/50 drawing. Food will be available.
Advance tickets may be bought at a discount at Mill Hall Agway, R&M Gas and Oil, Bonnie's Nail Salon, or from any Friends member.
A recent pizza day fundraiser at Pizza Hut was a success. The staff and managers at the restaurant were very helpful, according to pool volunteers, and the amount of support that day was "incredible" and "heartwarming."
YOU CAN HELP
The day before the bingo, on Saturday, April 21, Comcast and the Mill Hall Kiwanis Club will co-sponsor a volunteer work project at the pool. Comcast employees will donate their time, and the Kiwanis club will benefit financially, based on the number of community volunteers who show up. It is a whole-family event kids count as volunteers, as do adults.
It starts at 8 a.m., and people may give only an hour or two or stay for the day. Just show up with work gloves. The work day will take place rain or shine.
